Healing or hustling? The truth about self-love & resilience

Hi Resilient Sunshine!

Sometimes you meet some people, and you don’t know exactly why.

Our environment is a reflection of ourselves, the good, the bad and the ugly parts.

Its power? When we start understanding the role of our connections in our growth, present, past and future.

For so long, I had let my life depend on forced connections, anxious to be loved, recognised and find completion and wholeness in others, in work, in any other external things.

That said, re-centering doesn't mean cutting off everything external, but surrounding ourselves differently.

There is power in community. When there’s chaos around us, we can learn from it. When we get hurt, we can reflect on the parts of ourselves that we have not appreciated seeing in others.

How listening to your body unlocks new beginnings

Hedi Shah, Molly Caro May, and Kylie B. shared their presence and wisdoms around what resilience means to them, the challenge setting boundaries can present, and the journey to connecting to our body with presence.

It didn't include locking themselves in a cave away from everyone. It meant nurturing a community of kind, aware and curious explorators whilst leaving a window for their inner voice to be heard.

Hard reminder: vulnerability is a strength, and alignment happens when we take the time to listen in to what truly does it for us. However:

  • Nobody truly has figured out the perfect science of life: you'll have to experiment and see what works best for you specifically, no matter what a wannabe guru is telling you.
  • The fight, flight, freeze response only serves us for a while. You can tap into your softness when you are ready.
  • Femininity comes with physiological challenges that we can overcome by giving space to our bodies to express their needs and adapt to it
  • Every day, ask yourself: how can I nourish my body today?

Hot take from this last live pod: Self-love, boundaries & body wisdom.

A lot of what we discussed circles back to the body, how we treat ourselves, and what permission we give ourselves to get over the guilt and the shame we're trapped in.

  1. As a parent, how do you set boundaries yet still be present for your family.
  2. In general how do you respect yourself and keep yourself accountable.

That's also why how you surround yourself it's important. Your tribe makes you feel supported in the process of figuring yourself out, but also respects your journey and how you are navigating it.

Coming next: back to school with resilient investment!

Next episode is a special takeover from Mangrove! The operational resilience queen Amitty Peace will receive special guests to address the need to adapt so we can make a real impact on the startup ecosystem.

The conversations will cut deep when it comes to growing a sustainable business and what that takes to do in the current environment. Stay tunes for the episode's details ;)

Your turn!

  1. How do you find nourishment for yourself daily?
  2. What's something you used to hate that you now enjoy?

Hi Resilient Sunshine, You're done surviving. But there's a messy middle between "ready for change" and "acting on it". We don't talk enough about that although it is the most important part of the journey. That famous "enjoy the journey, not the destination"? Well, this messy middle is it! You don't always need a Plan B The latest episode with Alex was poignant. For her, change was about the real survival. "It just came to a state when couldn't live like that anymore". Hi Resilient Sunshine, We tend to think of breakups as romantic endings. But the hardest breakup you’ll ever go through? It might not be with a person. It might be with a job that’s slowly draining you. A city that never felt like home. An identity you outgrew years ago. Or a version of yourself you created just to keep other people comfortable... and you know what? You're allowed to leave! When Life Knocks You Down (More Than Once) I recently sat down with Pacharee who has survived what most...

Big Life Changes: how the worst leads to your best

Hey Sunshine! "Community is essential. But if you hand over the keys to your joy, you'll starve." I spent an afternoon with Simon, my second 1-2-1 interview for the pod. He's lived more lives than most of us will in three: raised by women in times none of us can recall about London, he embraced a career change from operations and management to become a therapist when people usually go for retirement. I went in expecting to ask him about resilience and career changes. What I left with was...
